Buffalo CarShare
Need a car? Use ours! Buffalo CarShare (BCS) offers the peace of mind of having access to a car for emergency, personal or work-related trips without having to drive alone to work every day.
How does it work?
Once you become a CarShare member, you simply reserve the vehicle for when you need it, use an electronic key to get into it, and then drive the car as if you own it. When you no longer need the car, you simply return it to the same place you picked it up from and the car becomes available to the member with the next reservation.
Where are the cars located? There are three vehicles within walking distance of the Medical Campus:
- Allen-Medical Campus NFTA Station – Washington St. Parking Lot (behind the station)
- Virginia Place – across from Mothers Restaurant
- Quaker Bonnet Eatery – Allen Street across from Towne Restaurant

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
There are 21 electric vehicle charging stations across the BNMC, installed through a partnership BNMC, AAA Western and Central New York, National Grid, Clean Communities of Western NY, NYSERDA, the Global Energy Institute, and the US Department of Energy.
These stations are located in the Innovation Center parking lot (589 Ellicott Street), the Ellicott Goodrich Garage (across from Buffalo General Medical Center and the Gates Vascular Institute), in the new employee garage at Michigan Avenue and Goodrich Street, and in the right of way along Ellicott Street across from the Innovation Center (will be operational when the street goes two-way next year).
For Electric Vehicle owners interested in utilizing BNMC’s new Electric Vehicle Charging Station Network please contact us at 716.854.BNMC (2662) to learn more or download our FAQ sheet. Initially, use of the EVSE will be provided at no cost to the public in an effort to foster increased use of battery electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. The grant funds for this effort were a part of a $30 million dollar award through NYSERDA and five of the US DOE Clean Cities Organizations in NYS.
