Founded as a small community agency in 1953, BHSC has expanded over the years to meet the growing needs of the community, and at the same time, developed the ability to remain at the cutting edge of advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of speech-language and hearing disorders as well as innovative learning advances in early childhood education and literacy. Today, Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center offers comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services for the care of communication impairments, evidence-based practices in early childhood education including autism interventions, and literacy “re-claiming” programs. It is the largest independent community-based center in the United States.
In 1995, Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center developed a state-of-the-art facility on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. This building provides the optimal setting for diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation for those with communication disabilities. It also has enabled BHSC to develop new programs and acquire technology that enhances both the quality and scope of its services.
