Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus Receives $100,000 from National Grid
The Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, Inc. (BNMC) recently received a $100,000 grant from National Grid. The grant, from National Grid’s Strategic Economic Development Outreach Program, will be used as matching funds to assist with the architecture and engineering services and marketing presence of the BNMC’s Innovation Center, a $20 million project that will attract investors from foreign countries and other parts of the United States.

The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care Joins Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus
At its quarterly meeting this June, the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC) Board of Directors voted unanimously in favor of the The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care becoming a member of the corporation.

Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus Leadership Supports Heart Center, Relocation of Clinical Services to Downtown Campus
Leaders of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC) today announced their support of the New York State Department of Health’s endorsement to build a global cardiovascular center on the BNMC. The BNMC leadership also supports the mandate of the Commission on Healthcare Facilities in the 21st Century (also known as the Berger Commission) to consolidate health care services in Western New York. Among the Berger Commission mandates include relocating services from Millard Fillmore Gates Circle hospital to the Buffalo General Hospital on the north end of the BNMC.

Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus Names Patrick J. Whalen Chief Operating Officer
The Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, Inc. this week announced that Patrick J. Whalen has joined the organization as its first chief operating officer. The Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC) is a consortium of the region’s premier health care, life sciences research, and medical education institutions, all co-located on 115 acres in downtown Buffalo. The BNMC is dedicated to the cultivation of a world-class medical campus for clinical care, research, education, and entrepreneurship.

Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus Receives $4.5M Through Restore NY Grant
Many thanks to Gov. Spitzer, who has shown real commitment to his vision of building an innovation economy here in Western New York by dedicating $4.5M from Restore NY to the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. This grant allows us to immediately move forward on renovations of the former four-story Trico building at 640 Ellicott Street. Our goal is to help grow local biotech companies while at the same time trying to attract companies from Canada, internationally, and across the United States to the medical campus. Thank you to the City of Buffalo for submitting the application for this grant. Mayor Byron Brown and the City have been invaluable partners to us and we look forward to continuing to work together to achieve our common goal of cultivating the knowledge-based economy in our region,” said Matthew K. Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus Announces Renaissance Fellowship Fund
The Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC) today announced the creation of the Renaissance Fellowship Fund. Developed in partnership with the Buffalo Renaissance Foundation (BRF) and First Niagara, the Fund will allow Renaissance Fellows to participate in established internship programs at BNMC life sciences research institutions. |

Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus Named Program of the Year by Northeastern Economic Developers Association
The Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus has been named “Program of the Year” by the Northeastern Economic Developers Association (NEDA). This is one of three awards given annually by NEDA in recognition of the very best economic development achievements in the eleven Northeastern states. The 2007 Program of the Year award will be presented before an audience of economic development leaders from throughout the Northeast at NEDA’s 51st Annual Conference in Atlantic City on October 1, 2007. |
