The Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus has been recognized for economic achievement by a group that promotes economic and industrial development in the Northeast.

The medical campus has been named "Program of the Year" by the Northeastern Economic Developers Association, one of three awards given annually by the organization. The association commended the medical campus as a targeted business development program where biomedical resources come together to attract research talent. The award will be presented at the organization's 51st Annual Conference in Atlantic City on Oct. 1.

"The (medical campus) is an excellent example of what well-placed investments and collaboration can do for a community," said Brian Anderson, senior economic developer of National Grid, which nominated the medical campus for the award, and member of the association's board.

The association was formed in 1956 to promote economic and industrial development in the Northeastern region of the United States. The members represent economic development, banking, real-estate brokerage, law, engineering, and environmental consulting industries.
