July 14, 2008 (BUFFALO, NY) –The Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, Inc. (BNMC) recently received a $100,000 grant from National Grid. The grant, from National Grid’s Strategic Economic Development Outreach Program, will be used as matching funds to assist with the architecture and engineering services and marketing presence of the BNMC’s Innovation Center, a $20 million project that will attract investors from foreign countries and other parts of the United States.

“National Grid has been very supportive of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus over the years – we are lucky to have such a dedicated partner, particularly as we continue to grow the BNMC and build the knowledge-based economy in downtown Buffalo,” said Matt Enstice, Executive Director of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, Inc.

The BNMC is currently renovating the Innovation Center at 640 Ellicott Street into state-of-the-art office and wet laboratory space to house local, national, and international life sciences and biotech companies seeking to be a part of the thriving Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. The 120,000 sq.ft., four-story building with shared conference rooms and support services is designed with flexible floor plans to allow customization for individual needs. There will also be on-site management support, dedicated parking, and accessible shipping docks.
