Upstate New York Transplant Services
Joins Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus

BUFFALO, NY – At its annual meeting, the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC) Board of Directors voted unanimously in favor of Upstate New York Transplant Services (UNYTS) becoming a member of the corporation.

"UNYTS is a perfect fit for the BNMC. We are thrilled to have them join our organization," said Thomas R. Beecher, Jr., Chair of the BNMC Board of Directors. "UNYTS is recognized as a national model for organ, tissue and eye donation, recovery and transplantation. Their expertise lends itself to collaborative activities which will improve clinical, research and entrepreneurial opportunities for both BNMC institutions and the community as a whole."

"This membership formalizes long-standing relationships between several medical campus institutions and UNYTS. It recognizes the integral nature of our services in transplantation and research," said Mark J. Simon, President and CEO of UNYTS. "We are pleased to incorporate our organizational strengths into the BNMC for the good of the Buffalo Niagara region."

UNYTS, a non-profit organization authorized by the federal government to accept organs and tissues for transplantation and research, is committed to enhancing and saving lives through organ, tissue, and eye donation while maintaining respect for those who give the gift of life.

Founded in 2001, the BNMC is a non-profit corporation dedicated to the cultivation of a world-class medical campus for clinical care, research, education and entrepreneurship on 100 acres in downtown Buffalo.
